We're extemely excited to announce Rachael Dadd's next EP 'Elephee' which will be released on September 13th. Elephee is a 5 song collection of stripped down home recordings, Rachael at her most intimate. In contrast to her gorgeous piano based mini-album Moth In The Motor, her new EP is played entirely on classical guitar and banjo. It will be released on hand-numbered limited edition CD, with every cover hand printed using linocuts designed & etched by Rachael. Of course, it'll also be available digitally. Rachael Dadd will be playing a very relaxed free afternoon show this Sunday at the brilliant Utrophia gallery (Deptford). She'll be playing solo and with her duo The Hand, and will be joined by Rozi Plain, Wig Smith, Ichi and more. The whole afternoon will be completely unplugged, it's going to be a very special one.

This Saturday, Rachael Dadd will be curating and playing at a night of Japanese music at Cafe Oto. Also playing is the brilliant Ichi, a new favourite of ours Efuromio, and Yoshito (who we're yet to hear but will no doubt be equally awesome). The night will also play host to photography by Takayuki Imai. Takayuki created an incredible one-off sleeve for Rachael's Moth In The Motor 10" mini-album, which can be bought here.

A couple of great exhibitions currently on/coming up from two amazing contributors to Rachael Dadd's Moth In The Motor 10" vinyl sleeves. Firstly, Ali Hutchinson has a gorgeous solo exhibition at Chiki Chick which ends this Saturday. Read about it in Amelia's Magazine. Festivals update! Rachael Dadd will be playing at Glastonbury this year, as well as End Of The Road and South Street Arts Festival. Peggy Sue are confirmed to play at The Great Escape, Wood Festival, Dot To Dot, and Summer Sundae. Panama Kings will be at Junk Yard Festival, Take It To The Bridge, Rising Stars, and Indiependance. Also at this year's brilliant End Of The Road, are the mighty Forest Fire! Hurrah! There will be more festival announcements to come!

We're very happy to announce a second week-long exhibition of the Moth In The Motor Arts Project at The Foundry (Old Street), running from 16th-21st March. We'll be celebrating the opening there on the evening of Thursday 18th with incidental music from a very special lineup of Rachael Dadd, Tristram, The Mariner's Children (solo), and Jo Burke. Both the exhibition and opening event are free! Hurrah.

Rachael Dadd's new mini album Moth In The Motor, a collection of piano-based home and studio recordings is released today on 10" vinyl and digital! The limited edition (300 pressings) 10" vinyl comes in a hand-painted sleeve using a variety of linocuts created by Rachael herself. Every single sleeve will be different. The vinyl labels have also been hand painted, and every pressing is hand numbered. Even the sleeve material is handmade. Every pressing includes a free digital version of the album, a bonus track, and a gorgeous hand painted animation. You can order yours now by visiting our shop.

In celebration of Rachael Dadd's love of art, and the release of her forthcoming mini-album "Moth In The Motor" (due out Feb 2010), we are very excited to be launching the Moth In The Motor Arts Project. We're inviting creative hands around the country to create one-off sleeves for Rachael's 10". The designs will go on display at an exhibition next year, and all of the artwork will be available to buy, with all profits going to the artists involved. It doesn't stop there, we'll also be hand printing every single copy of this release using linocuts designed by Rachael herself. Very exciting times at Broken Sound! It is with immeasurable joy that we can announce the latest addition to our family, the mindblowingly wonderful Rachael Dadd. Rachael has been a favourite of ours since we first discovered her distinctive home brewed sounds a year ago. She's since joined us to play live for our podcast, a session which only further cemented our love for her. This very Friday they’ll be headlining the lovely Luminaire venue in Kilburn, then on Sunday night they’ll be performing at the Flowerpot in Kentish Town.

Forest Fire’s forthcoming album ‘Survival’ received some glowing press this week from two of the most fantastic music magazines. Uncut describes the album as “An exercise in urban'n'western with art-punk underpinnings...Lyrically sharp, but musically savvy too” while Mojo claims “Their sound is noisily, knowingly ragged and their lyrics contrastingly romantic...Rock classicism smoulders in this Forest Fire “. The album is due out on July 20th.
